Entry into the cloud-based point-of-sale software market.
Bielefeld-based Anker Kassensysteme, a provider of hardware and other solutions around the point-of-sale (POS), acquires Berlin-based LocaFox from its founders and other capital provider. LocaFox develops and distributes cloud-based software solutions, particularly targeting small and medium-sized companies in the retail sector.
The market for cloud-based POS software solutions is expected to see attractive growth potential. LocaFox distributes an independently developed, mature software product, which is currently in use at more than 2,500 cash registers in Germany. By utilizing Anker's market knowledge and excellent reputation in the retail sector, it is planned to further grow sales at LocaFox and to jointly offer a combined POS product solution consisting of hardware and software.
Dr. Fabian Schühle, CEO at Anker POS Systems, said: "The acquisition of LocaFox is another important step on the way to develop ANKER into a comprehensive POS provider. At the same time, we are building on ANKER's roots as provider of cash registers. The LocaFox software now enables us to tap into a new customer group and at the same time forms the technological basis to develop new ANKER/LocaFox products. We welcome the LocaFox team in the ANKER family and look forward to our common future."
Christian Muschalik, Partner at Halder, added: "With the acquisition of LocaFox Anker has successfully entered the POS software market. LocaFox offers exciting growth opportunities in this field, which we want to support and seize together with Anker."
