Provider of doors and shutters grows turn-key solutions
Frankfurt, February 1, 2013. Halder, the Frankfurt-based investor in German SMEs, has signed a definitive agreement to sell its majority shareholding in Alukon, Konradsreuth, to Hörmann Group, Steinhagen. Hörmann is the leading provider of gates, doors, frames and motors in Europe. The transaction is subject to approval of anti-trust authorities, the parties involved have agreed not to disclose financial details.
Halder had acquired Alukon from AXA Private Equity in 2007. The provider of rolling doors and shutters made from aluminium had strengthened its good market position in Germany by expanding sales and marketing while it’s Eastern European markets have not quite recovered from the recession of 2008/09. A streamlined production setup and a stronger focus on turn-key solutions have improved the firm’s earnings power. For fiscal year 2012, Alukon’s total output was close to € 73 million and the company had a staff of 375.
Halder has been active in Germany since 1991, providing equity capital to SMEs, mainly for international growth. To date, 33 investments have been completed overall. Alukon was the last of nine investee companies held in the portfolio of Halder-GIMV Germany after a total investment of € 155 million. Halder currently manages Halder-GIMV Germany II. With € 325 million available for investment, this fund recently had acquired mechanical engineering specialist Helmut Klingel, Pforzheim, through a management buy-out.
